In 2020, Woodnest quickly garnered worldwide attention when it was voted as one of the World’s Best Forest Homes by the BBC. This year, Woodnest, in collaboration with Norwegian architects Helen & Hard, raised the bar even higher. In 2023, they unveiled mountaintop treehouses measuring just 15 square meters.
These remarkable accommodations feature a meticulously crafted wooden bathtub and a bed that can be lowered from the ceiling with a simple click.
Woodnest’s journey began with a shared dream by the founders and owners, Kjartan and Sally, who both had a common wish: Sally desired to sleep in a treehouse, and Kjartan aspired to build one. This dream has now become a reality. As a family-run business, Woodnest is dedicated to bringing guests closer to nature without sacrificing luxury. Inspired by Scandinavian design, Woodnest proudly showcases a collection of Norwegian designers and locally crafted products. Despite their compact size of just 14 square meters, these treehouses seamlessly blend into their natural surroundings, leaving a minimal carbon footprint.
The newly introduced mountaintop treehouses offer guests a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Norwegian nature and culture. Each treehouse’s location allows guests to enjoy a brief hike, culminating in a bird’s-eye view of the Hardanger Fjord. Nestled in the quaint industrial town of Odda, these mountaintop treehouses provide a perfect getaway.
Designed for two people, these treehouses come equipped with a small kitchenette, stove top, high-speed wifi, shower, bathtub, flushing toilet, drinking water, and a double bed that descends from the ceiling. All four of these luxury treehouses are suspended 6 meters above the forest floor, thanks to clever engineering that allows the trees to thrive while a steel collar secures the treehouses in place.
