Guangzhou, the City of Flowers, enjoys fresh blooms year-round, which has given rise to its Chinese nickname “Huacheng.” Inspired by The City of Flowers, Tian Bar has created a new standard in hand-crafted cocktails with each of the 15 new cocktail creations, including 3 mocktails, feature an exotic blend of flower-themed ingredients.
Head Bartender Antonio De Luca, in collaboration with Hope & Sesame, has created this flower-centric cocktail menu 2.0. Also known as MiaoQian Bing Shi (庙前冰室), Hope & Sesame opened in February 2016 as the first speakeasy cocktail bar in Guangzhou. Tucked away behind a traditional Cantonese cafe in the quaint neighborhood of Dongshan Kou, the bar is a unique testing ground for cocktail innovation.
This new floral cocktail menu includes four series (Sweet Floral, Sour, Spirit Forwards and Floral) and with each series are three cocktail options. Galangal Flowers, one of the signature cocktails from the Sweet selection, includes galangal infused Flor de Cana 4 years old rum, lemongrass Mancino Bianco vermouth, Nordes gin and aromatic coconut cream and pandan to reinforce its depth of flavors.
The Sakura is a stronger cocktail from the Spirit Forwards selection that combines Monkey 47 gin infused with sakura and butterfly-pea, with enhanced nuttiness from a salted plum, and Mancino Sakura vermouth.
Osmanthus, from the previous Flower Menu, remains in the 2.0 Menu. Antonio has created a method to extract the taste and aroma from the flowers. He mixes the Monkey 47 gin with osmanthus flowers, peach liqueur, and oolong tea. He then clarifies the mixture with yoghurt to create a soft and creamy flavor. The purple-colored mixed liquid is filled in a distinctively shaped glass. The highlight from the Floral selection is Violette, a floral Martini made with a blend of rooibos tea, distilled vodka, lavender bitters, homemade violette liqueur, and Mancino Secco vermouth.
Tian Bar is located on the 99th floor of Four Seasons Hotel Guangzhou.
