The Power of BMW M Performance Parts on and off the Track

In a move that not only enhances the appeal of various existing BMW models but also injects a distinct motorsport ambiance into BMW M GmbH’s high-performance sports cars, the retrofit offerings from the BMW M Performance Parts program have taken center stage. Among the notable features directly inspired by the racetrack are the centrelock wheels, a highlight available for select high-performance automobiles, emphasizing the performance-oriented character of these vehicles.

These centrelock wheels, forged for lightweight performance, stand out for their optimized weight, emotionally charged design, and incorporation of technology adapted from motorsport, making them standout elements in the diverse BMW M Performance Parts lineup.

Beyond their aesthetic contribution, these wheels play a crucial role in enhancing the high-performance character of the vehicles. Specifically, in the case of the special edition BMW 3.0 CSL, unveiled on the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH and limited to 50 units, the centrelock wheels are an integral part of the specially tuned racetrack performance chassis technology. Presently, BMW M Performance centrelock wheels are part of the Original BMW Accessories program for several models, including the BMW M2, BMW M3 Touring Competition with M xDrive, BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M4 Coupe, and BMW M4 Convertible.

Originating from motorsport, centrelock wheels facilitate swift wheel changes and expedite pit stops. Distinguished by a single central screw, these wheels form an exceptionally solid connection with the wheel hub, ensured by a torque of 930 Nm during installation. This not only brings a tangible racetrack DNA during wheel changes but also reduces rotating masses and adds to the exclusive appearance with a distinctive hub design.

The M Performance centrelock wheels, available in sizes of 19 inches for the front axle and 20 inches for the rear axle, feature a Jet Black matte color with a milled M Performance lettering. Paired with tires in dimensions 275/35 ZR19 for the front and 285/30 ZR20 for the rear, they complete a performance-oriented package.

Beyond the centrelock wheels, the BMW M Performance Parts program offers an array of retrofit options in areas such as suspension, drivetrain, aerodynamics, and cockpit features. Leveraging over five decades of motorsport experience and development know-how of the BMW M GmbH, these options allow for performance-oriented customization, providing a racetrack experience in everyday driving. Products like the M Performance suspension with height-adjustable spring perches and the M Performance sport brake system cater to a targeted enhancement in dynamics and agility.  Additionally, the program includes model-specific carbon components for elevating the exterior aesthetics, primarily crafted from carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP). Options such as the M Performance front attachment carbon, M Performance rear diffuser, and M Performance side sill insert carbon contribute to a racing-style appearance.
