The Greenbrier Concours d’Elegance, presented by Ferrari of Washington, returns for its seventh year, promising three days brimming with automotive excitement at The Greenbrier Resort from May 3-5.
The festivities begin on Friday, May 3, with the eagerly anticipated Summit Drive. Car aficionados hailing from 11 different states, some traveling from as far as Wisconsin, converge at The Greenbrier Sporting Club’s Summit Lodge. From there, they embark on a spirited journey along the scenic backroads of West Virginia. The day’s adventure culminates at Snowshoe Mountain Resort, where drivers can revel in breathtaking vistas before descending the mountain via a scenic lift ride.
As the sun sets, the action transitions to The Greenbrier’s Outdoor Infinity Pool, where judges, car owners, the Concours Steering Committee, and enthusiasts gather for the festive Welcome Reception, graciously presented by Bentley, Washington, D.C. The evening promises an ambiance of conviviality, with libations, delectable fare, and camaraderie to celebrate the onset of another spectacular concours.
Saturday’s schedule kicks off bright and early with the highly anticipated Cars & Cocktails event, presented by Ole Smoky. Against the picturesque backdrop of The Greenbrier Golf Club and Springhouse, nearly 150 automobiles spanning decades of automotive history are on display, ranging from a pristine 1931 LaSalle to the sleek lines of a 2017 Lamborghini, ensuring there’s something to captivate every enthusiast. Attendees can indulge in libations from Smooth Ambler Spirits and Ole Smoky Moonshine, accompanied by culinary delights from The Greenbrier’s acclaimed kitchens. The show field remains open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with awards presentations scheduled for 2 p.m. This event is open to the public, with convenient shuttle service provided from the Train Station lot across from The Greenbrier’s Main Entrance.
Following Cars & Cocktails, enthusiasts can partake in an engaging Automotive Discussion at The Greenbrier Theatre. Renowned car expert Tom Cox engages in conversation with automotive personality Ken Gross, renowned for his prolific contributions to automotive literature and his tenure as the former Executive Director of the Petersen Automotive Museum. The discussion, which is open to all, offers attendees the opportunity to pose questions to the esteemed hosts.
As evening descends, the spotlight shifts to the elegant Colonial Hall for the annual Kentucky Derby Party and Charitable Dinner. Guests immerse themselves in the excitement of the Derby, placing their bets and cheering on their chosen steeds while savoring The Greenbrier’s signature Mint Juleps. A sumptuous buffet dinner prepared by The Greenbrier’s culinary artisans awaits, complemented by live entertainment courtesy of Berglund Automotive. The evening serves as a platform to support the event’s partner charities — the AACA Library and Research Center, First Responders Children’s Foundation, and West Virginia Autism Training Center — with tickets available for purchase online until Thursday at 3 p.m. Additional tickets will be available at the door.
The weekend culminates on Sunday with the pièce de résistance, the Sunday Concours, held in the iconic Front Circle of The Greenbrier. Close to 100 meticulously curated collector cars representing automotive excellence from across the globe grace the meticulously manicured grounds. These automotive gems compete in 11 distinct classes, each vying for recognition and prestige. Trophies, lovingly crafted by the skilled artisans of The Greenbrier, await the top three contenders in each class, with an array of unique awards open to vehicles in all classes. The Sunday Concours is a spectacle not to be missed, with the show field open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a captivating awards ceremony commencing at 2 p.m. Admission is free for spectators, with convenient shuttle services available from the Train Station lot.
