Street Closures for 93rd Oscars in Downtown Los Angeles

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the City of Los Angeles have finalized street closure plans around Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.

Alameda Street between Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and 1st Street, Los Angeles Street between Alameda Street and 1st Street, and intersecting streets will be closed beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, April 25, and will remain closed until 4 a.m. on Monday, April 26.  The 101 Freeway off-ramp and on-ramps at Los Angeles Street will also be closed during this period. 

Union Station will remain open to transit riders throughout this period, and riders will be able to access all bus, rail, Metrolink, Amtrak and private transportation providers, along with vendors.  Olvera Street merchants and area churches will remain accessible to the public.

The 93rd Oscars will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby® Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood

21 DAYS PRIOR TO SHOW (6AM SUNDAY, APRIL 4  6PM TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 2021):

  1. Close Northbound curb lane (East curb lane) of Alameda St from Arcadia St (El Monte Busway) to Union Station entrance.
  2. Close East sidewalk of Alameda St from Arcadia (El Monte Busway) to Union Station entrance.  Except for 8-foot pedestrian path of travel to access local businesses.
  3. Re-route bus stop on Northbound Alameda (East curb) at Arcadia St (El Monte Busway).

14 DAYS PRIOR TO SHOW (6AM SUNDAY, APRIL 11  6PM MONDAY, APRIL 26,2021):

  1. Close Northbound curb lane (East curb lane) of Alameda St from Los Angeles St to E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave.
  2. Close East sidewalk of Alameda St from Los Angeles St to E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave. Except for 8-foot pedestrian path of travel to access local businesses.
  3. Re-route bus stop on Northbound Alameda (East curb) at Los Angeles St.

7 DAYS PRIOR TO SHOW (6AM MONDAY, APRIL 19  6PM MONDAY, APRIL 26, 2021):

  1. Close East curb lane of Main St from Arcadia to crosswalk (opposite El Pueblo Central Plaza).
  2. Close East and West curb lanes of Los Angeles Street from Arcadia to Alameda St.

  1. Alameda St from E. Cesar E Chavez Ave to 1st St
  2. Los Angeles from Alameda St to 1st St
  3. Main St from 1st St. to E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave
  4. Judge John Aliso St from Temple St to 1st St
  5. S/B Broadway from E. Cesar E Chavez Ave to Aliso St
  6. Arcadia St from Spring St to Alameda St
  7. Aliso St from Spring St to Alameda St
  8. Temple St from Hill St to Garey St.
  9. East sidewalk of Los Angeles St from Temple St to Alameda St
  10. West sidewalk of Los Angeles St from Temple St to Alameda St
  11. East sidewalk of Alameda St from E. Cesar E Chavez Ave to Temple St
  12. West sidewalk of Alameda St from E. Cesar E Chavez Ave to Temple St
  13. South sidewalk of E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave from Main St to Union Station Dr. Except for 8-foot pedestrian path of travel to access local businesses.
  14. North sidewalk of Temple St between Alameda St and Main St
  15. South sidewalk of Temple St between Alameda St and Main St.

From 12:01am – 4:00am April 26, Close the following Freeway ramps:

  1. Close 101 Fwy Southbound Off-Ramp off Los Angeles St (Exit 2B) (south of Aliso St)
  2. Close 101 Fwy Northbound On-Ramp at Los Angeles St (north of Arcadia St)
  3. Close 101 Fwy Southbound On-Ramp at Los Angeles St
  4. Restrict 101 Fwy Northbound Off-Ramp at Alameda to “Left Turn Only”
