The Amundi Evian Championship, known as golf’s first Major to be held in continental Europe, holds a significant place in the women’s game. The tournament takes place at the beautiful Evian Resort Golf Club in France, situated between the serene Lake Geneva and the majestic Alps, providing a fitting venue for such a prestigious championship and its talented participants. This year’s edition is scheduled from 27th to 30th July.

Since its debut in 1994, the event has steadily grown in prominence, establishing its own unique history. Rolex has been a key partner and Official Timekeeper for The Amundi Evian Championship since 2000, demonstrating their enduring commitment to women’s golf, which dates back to 1980 when they joined forces with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).

Many successful moments have unfolded at The Amundi Evian Championship for Rolex Testimonees, including the two-time champion Annika Sörenstam (2000, 2002). Considered one of the greatest golfers in women’s golf history, she set a standard of excellence that inspires the present generation of players.

Annika Sörenstam fondly recalls her experiences at the championship, stating, “It was one of my favorite tournaments on the LPGA Tour. The championship showcases the incredibly beautiful landscapes of Evian-les-Bains, and the quality of services surrounding the golf is top-notch. The course demands technical skill and precise control over your game, emphasizing accuracy over power due to the undulating fairways.”

This year, fellow Testimonee Brooke Henderson aims to follow in Annika’s footsteps and win her second crown at Évian-les-Bains. Brooke, the defending champion, secured her second Major title in 2022, making her the first LPGA player to start any Major with successive rounds of 64. Ahead of this year’s tournament, Brooke expressed her excitement, acknowledging the unique challenges posed by the course’s varying slopes but also her determination to perform well again.

Notable Testimonees who have triumphed at this visually captivating venue include Lydia Ko (2015), Suzann Pettersen (2013), and Anna Nordqvist (2017). Lydia Ko, recalling her first Major victory, holds a special place in her heart for The Amundi Evian Championship, feeling the tremendous support from the crowds, almost like playing in front of her own family. She aspires to join Annika Sörenstam as a multiple-time winner of the tournament, a goal she eagerly pursues in this year’s edition.
