In a recent announcement, Polestar has officially confirmed the commencement of production for the Polestar 4, anticipating the initial deliveries to customers in China by the close of 2023. The global release across all other Polestar markets is scheduled for early 2024, with customer deliveries expected within the same year.

The inaugural vehicle to emerge from the production line boasts a sleek Snow finish adorned with the distinctive Swedish gold details characteristic of the Performance Pack. Notably, this marks the first Polestar model to be manufactured at the Hangzhou Bay factory under the operation of Geely Holding. The facility is powered by renewable electricity, certified by the I-REC hydro power certificate, and supplemented by photovoltaic electricity generated on the plant’s roof.

The manufacturing workshop is dedicated to environmentally conscious practices, employing various methods to minimize harmful waste, such as a non-chrome passivator to mitigate water pollution, water-based paint to reduce volatile organic compound emissions, and dry paper box filtering in the paint shop to eliminate paint mist, achieve zero wastewater generation during the spraying process, and reduce air conditioning energy consumption by 60%.

The adoption of a concentrator wheel and regenerative thermal oxidizer further underscores the commitment to effective treatment of exhaust gases from the factory.

Polestar CEO, Thomas Ingenlath, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “The first Polestar 4 rolling off the production line today is the culmination of hard work from countless colleagues and partners. Polestar 4 stands out in design and performance, a remarkable SUV coupé in many ways.” He emphasized the vehicle’s unique features, including the virtual rear window with a world-class digital rear-view mirror, highlighting its significance in the brand’s lineup of exclusive performance EVs.

Polestar 4 made its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2023, and starting from the second half of 2025, additional manufacturing capacity will be introduced in Busan, South Korea, catering to the local market and facilitating exports to North American markets. Positioned between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in terms of size and price, the SUV coupé incorporates design elements from Polestar’s concept cars and holds the distinction of being the fastest Polestar production car to date.
