Meyers Manx, the iconic brand renowned for its original fiberglass dune buggies, recently introduced its latest creation, the Resorter Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV), during the ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ event. This modern reinterpretation of a beloved 1970s vehicle had an initial introduction on August 17th at the Trousdale House in Monterey, California, exclusively for a select group of Meyers Manx enthusiasts.
The exclusive private gathering, set against the backdrop of the ocean, featured culinary delights prepared by the esteemed Michelin-starred Chef Yann Nury. On August 18th, the Manx ‘Resorter’ Neighborhood Electric Vehicle made its public debut at the same event.
Situated at 3292 17 Mile Dr. in Pebble Beach, CA, the Meyers Manx Home is a remarkable craftsman-style residence that stands out on the oceanfront in Pebble Beach. A sweeping lawn on the ocean side leads to a private cove and the largest sandy beach along the Pebble waterfront, offering breathtaking views of Stillwater Cove, the PB Golf Links, and Carmel Beach. This exceptional property, transformed by Flamingo Estate and Trousdale Ventures, epitomizes the California lifestyle. It will feature a marketplace showcasing Meyers Manx products, courtesy of Trousdale Ventures and Flamingo Estate Boutique.
Among the vehicles on display were the Manx Resorter Neighborhood Electric Vehicle, the Meyers Manx 2.0 EV prototype that participated in the 2023 NORRA 1000, and the Meyers Manx 2.0 EV Launch Edition Concept Car.
The Manx Resorter NEV draws inspiration from the company’s rich heritage and accommodates four passengers. It boasts a twin-motor electric drivetrain and state-of-the-art lithium batteries, delivering outstanding torque, range, and acceleration. Notably, it’s the first NEV designed with an emphasis on driving dynamics and family fun. Geared for local exploration and electronically limited to 25mph due to NEV regulations, it stands as a unique offering in its market segment.
Phillip Sarofim, Chairman of Meyers Manx, expressed, “With the Resorter NEV, we are raising the bar in this segment by introducing a meticulously engineered vehicle that retains the timeless Meyers Manx aesthetic.” Freeman Thomas, CEO of Meyers Manx, added, “The launch marks a pivotal chapter in our company’s journey. Our combination of premium design, craftsmanship, and a commitment to fostering exploration of one’s surroundings sets Meyers Manx apart from the competition.”
The Resorter NEV’s development runs parallel with the Meyers Manx 2.0 Electric Vehicle, which has been tested in Baja California and upholds the brand’s offroad legacy. The Resorter NEV shares key components with the 2.0 and is equally adept at exploring vast ranches as well as the coastal communities it was designed for.
Hinrich J. Woebcken, board member of Meyers Manx and former CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, remarked, “With the rebirth of this iconic automotive brand, I’m deeply involved in the engineering and industrialization process to ensure a top-notch customer experience.”
Key features of the Resorter NEV include a streamlined aluminum monocoque chassis, captivating bodywork, advanced LED lighting, an intuitive smart dashboard, and subtle nods to the company’s heritage. It also offers a detachable roof, upcoming zip-down window doors, standard electric A/C, a foldable windshield, and rugged wheels ready for various terrains. Personalization options range from exterior colors to eco-friendly interior materials and innovative front seat designs.
The Resorter NEV starts at $49,000, and the Manx 2.0 at $74,000.
