Last night, the grand opening of Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo was celebrated with a magical red carpet event. The occasion was attended by Harry Potter actors Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), who joined local stars to commemorate the event.
Excited fans lined the red carpet to catch a glimpse of the Harry Potter actors, as well as other celebrities, including voice actor Mamoru Miyano, musician DAIGO, Kabuki actor Matsuya Onoe, and NiziU member Nina. The event’s guests were among the first to experience the wonder of the Studio Tour in its entirety. They walked through the iconic Great Hall, ventured into the Forbidden Forest, explored Diagon Alley, and discovered sets that were exclusive to Tokyo, such as the Ministry of Magic.
Today, the attraction officially opened its doors to visitors for the first time, attracting fans from around the world who sought to experience the magic. The Studio Tour stands as the first of its kind in Asia, offering fans the opportunity to unravel the behind-the-scenes secrets that contributed to the creation of one of the most successful film series of all time.
Actor Tom Felton, renowned for his portrayal of Harry Potter’s nemesis, Draco Malfoy, returned to the Studio Tour this morning for the official opening ceremony. He was accompanied by Yuriko Koike, the Governor of Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Kazushige Tanaka, the Director-General of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Rumi Furuya, the Commissioner of the Bureau of Construction. Together, they cast the ‘alohamora’ spell, officially welcoming guests to the Studio Tour.
Having opened for the first time in Tokyo, the brand-new Studio Tour invited fans to step onto breathtaking sets, including the iconic Great Hall at Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and the Forbidden Forest. There, they could marvel at exquisite costumes and come face to face with magical creatures while uncovering filmmaking secrets. Engaging in a variety of fun activities, fans rode broomsticks, savored refreshing Butterbeer, appeared in moving portraits within the halls of Hogwarts, immersed themselves in the excitement of a Quidditch game, and explored a vast selection of products, many of which were exclusive to Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo.
Moreover, the Studio Tour boasted the largest Harry Potter shop in the world. With 14 themed sections adorned with over 7,000 bespoke and specially sourced props, the shop’s design drew inspiration from the charming stores found on Diagon Alley, such as Honeydukes, Ollivanders, and Flourish and Blotts. Visitors delighted in a wide range of products, specifically developed for Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo. Additionally, the attraction offered a choice of restaurants and cafés that served a delightful array of traditional British cuisine, including fish and chips, roast beef, English breakfast, and Afternoon Tea.
This was the largest indoor Harry Potter attraction in the world, where visitors could expect to spend around four hours exploring the only Warner Bros. Studio Tour to have opened in Asia. Building on the phenomenal success of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – the Making of Harry Potter, which had opened in 2012 and had maintained exceptional visitor reviews, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo featured exclusive sets only available in that location, providing visitors with an experience like no other.
