“Le Petit Chef” has landed in Edmonton, bringing with it a playful twist on fine dining that’s sure to spark curiosity and excitement. Set at the JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District, this one-of-a-kind experience pairs high-end cuisine with 3D animation for an evening that’s as entertaining as it is delicious.
Here’s the fun part: every guest gets their own mini show right on their plate. Between the five courses, the table turns into a stage where a tiny, determined chef appears, trying his hand at cooking—usually with chaotic (and hilarious) results. Thankfully, the real chefs at JW Marriott swoop in to save the day, ensuring each course is a masterpiece, even if the little guy’s efforts fall apart.
Diners can pick from four different menus: Le Grand Chef, Le Petit Classic, Le Petit Vegetarian, and Le Petit Chef Junior. The crowd favorite, Le Grand Chef, kicks off with a Burrata salad with grilled heirloom tomatoes, asparagus, and a white balsamic glaze. Next comes a hearty Bouillabaisse packed with seasonal seafood, followed by a rich Broiled Lobster Thermidor. The main event? A succulent Alberta AAA Beef Fillet with all the fixings. To top it off, there’s a decadent Lava Cake served with vanilla bean ice cream and fresh berries. The variety, including vegetarian and kid-friendly options, ensures there’s something for everyone.
The magic behind these animations is courtesy of “Skullmapping,” a Belgian art collective founded by Filip Sterckx and Antoon Verbeeck. They introduced the pint-sized chef in 2015 using cutting-edge 3D mapping technology, and he’s been charming audiences ever since.
Showtimes are typically Thursday to Sunday at 5:00 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., with private events available for those looking to book a special occasion. Full details on menus, pricing, and reservations are available online.
