As the second market in Asia to showcase this innovative model, Lamborghini Taipei offers Taiwanese enthusiasts their first opportunity to experience the latest addition to the brand’s lineup. This launch represents a key milestone in the hybrid transformation of Sant’Agata Bolognese’s legendary vehicles and highlights the significance of the Taiwanese market.

The exclusive unveiling took place at the newly opened Lamborghini Taipei Service Center and was attended by distinguished customers and media representatives. The event was further elevated by the presence of Federico Foschini, Chief Marketing & Sales Officer at Automobili Lamborghini, and Francesco Scardaoni, Regional Director for Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific.

The Temerario is the second vehicle in Lamborghini’s High-Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) lineup, following the Revuelto. It sets new standards for performance, driving enjoyment, and comfort. Alongside the Urus SE, it establishes Lamborghini as the first luxury automotive brand to offer a fully hybridized range. The innovative hybrid powertrain, entirely designed and developed in Sant’Agata Bolognese, combines a newly engineered twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors to deliver a total output of 920 CV. This marks it as the first production super sports car capable of reaching 10,000 rpm. With a top speed of 343 km/h (210+ mph) and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.7 seconds, the Temerario’s performance is nothing short of revolutionary.

At the core of every Lamborghini lies its drive system, and the Temerario reimagines this foundation with an entirely new approach. Five years of meticulous development have resulted in an unprecedented powertrain that combines an exceptionally high-revving biturbo internal combustion engine with three electric motors. This groundbreaking system ensures the Temerario offers both the exhilarating response of a naturally aspirated engine and the immense torque of a turbocharged unit.

The heart of this new powertrain is the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, which achieves a specific output of 200 CV per liter. The engine integrates an oil-cooled axial flow electric motor within its housing, supported by two additional electric motors on the front axle. Together, this combination provides extraordinary linear power delivery, allowing for high torque even at elevated engine speeds, previously exclusive to naturally aspirated engines. The V8 engine, designated as L411, achieves peak power of 800 CV at 9,000–9,750 rpm and 730 Nm of torque from 4,000–7,000 rpm. Meanwhile, the electric motor serves as a “torque gap filler,” ensuring seamless acceleration and responsiveness throughout gear shifts.

Lamborghini’s engineers have incorporated advanced features, such as a “hot V” turbocharger arrangement for optimal packaging and thermal management, a flat-plane crankshaft for improved fluid dynamics and sound, and lightweight titanium components for reduced rotating mass. These innovations result in a low center of gravity for enhanced handling and an engine capable of extraordinary performance.

The Temerario also redefines auditory experiences with its uniquely crafted soundscape. By leveraging advanced engineering techniques, Lamborghini ensures the vehicle’s exhaust note evolves across driving modes. From the quiet, emission-free operation in Città mode to the intense, high-frequency harmonics of Sport and Corsa modes, the Temerario offers a sound that is unmistakably Lamborghini.

Additionally, the hybrid system integrates three electric motors, each contributing 110 kW of power. Two motors on the front axle enable all-wheel drive, while the third motor, housed within the V8 engine, ensures rapid response and serves as both a starter motor and generator. Together, the motors provide seamless performance and enable the Temerario to operate as a fully electric vehicle when needed, achieving a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to the Huracán.

The Lamborghini Temerario features a lithium-ion high-specific-power battery pack (4500 W/kg) positioned within the central tunnel to maintain a low center of gravity and ensure optimal weight distribution. This battery pack is safeguarded by a structural lower layer and connects seamlessly to the front electric motors, rear electric motor, and an integrated recharging unit.

The battery pack, measuring 1550 mm in length, 301 mm in height, and 240 mm in width, houses advanced pouch cells with a total capacity of 3.8 kWh. It can be recharged in multiple ways: using domestic alternating current or charging stations up to 7 kW, achieving a full charge in just 30 minutes, or via regenerative braking from the front wheels or directly from the V8 engine.

Advanced Vehicle Dynamics and Torque Vectoring

The Temerario incorporates Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo (LDV) 2.0, made possible by its innovative e-axle system. This setup utilizes electric torque vectoring to enhance agility during tight cornering and stability at high speeds by dynamically distributing torque to individual wheels. Unlike conventional systems, Lamborghini’s torque vectoring minimizes brake intervention, improving efficiency and ensuring a more natural and responsive driving experience. During braking, the e-axle and rear electric motor assist in deceleration, reducing the load on the braking system while simultaneously recharging the battery.

Revolutionary Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT)

The Temerario employs a newly designed eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) installed transversally behind the V8 engine. This compact transmission is specifically tailored to accommodate the high-performance hybrid drivetrain. To save space and reduce weight, the DCT design uses an additional hollow shaft to share synchronizers across different torque paths.

Without its electrical components, the new DCT weighs less than the Huracán’s seven-speed version, enabling faster gear shifts and improved efficiency. Measuring only 560 mm in length, 750 mm in width, and 580 mm in height, the transmission leaves sufficient room in the central tunnel for the lithium-ion battery, contributing to optimal weight distribution and balanced handling dynamics.

The DCT delivers exceptionally fast shifts, even during aggressive driving, and features a continuous downshifting function for seamless deceleration. Drivers can hold the left shift paddle while braking, enabling the gearbox to sequentially downshift and provide audible feedback on gear changes. The eighth gear’s long ratio optimizes fuel consumption during cruising and enhances drivability. Additionally, the transmission includes a mechanical reverse gear system for reliability and precision.

Distinctive Design Language

The Temerario’s exterior embodies Lamborghini’s DNA with a bold and puristic silhouette. Its design features short, compact overhangs, integrated aerodynamics, and the distinctive “shark nose” front end—a symbol of speed and audacity. The hexagonal daytime running lights (DRLs) introduce a new visual identity with an integrated radar sensor and air tunnel, blending lighting with aerodynamic functionality. Air channels beneath the headlights enhance cooling for the front braking system while boosting overall aerodynamic performance.

Lamborghini’s iconic hexagonal design language is prevalent throughout the vehicle, from the main bodywork and side air intakes to the taillights and striking hexagonal exhaust pipes. Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini’s Head of Design, emphasizes the importance of this geometric motif, tracing its roots to the 1960s. The DRLs ensure the Temerario is instantly recognizable, even from a distance.
