Filling the ground level of the new Novotel Devonport Hotel and opening onto the newly developed waterfront parkland amphitheater the lively eatery is the second Tasmanian venue for the Mr. Good Guy brand (the original launched in Hobart in 2017). The menu features a cross-section of authentic hawker-style share plates inspired by traditional dishes from Vietnam, Indonesia, Borneo, Malaysia and Singapore.
At Mr. Good Guy fresh rice paper rolls, plates of spicy Thai papaya and prawn salad and Malaysian Curries are made for sharing. Steaming bowls of fragrant Laksa and dishes of crispy spiced eggplant emerge from the kitchen as diners discover authentic regional dishes like Mee Mamak Goreng (wok-fried yellow noodles with prawn fritters, tofu and spicy paste) and Kway Teow Seafood, Singaporean rice noodles with grilled seafood, green leaf and ginger gravy.
For those looking for delicious drinks, Mr. Good Guy’s cocktail list is guaranteed to ensure a good time. Here Singapore Slings, Gingerbelles and Vietnamese Espresso Martinis are shaken using local Tasmanian Spirits. After something a little more decadent? Mr. Good Guy’s Kalapa Di, a cocktail of Frangelico, Baileys, Kahlua, and Honen shaken with coconut cream, will soothe the soul and evoke memories of the warm nights and bright lights of trips abroad.
