In a tradition that commenced in 2006, Guerlain successfully hosted high-profile exhibitions featuring avant-garde contemporary artists. The annual event was a testament to the enduring collaborations that Guerlain had fostered with artists since its inception in 1828. In the year dedicated to the theme “The Flowers of Evil,” Guerlain commemorated the poetic legacy of Charles Baudelaire and the captivating allure of flowers. The exhibition, which took place from October 18 to November 13 at Maison Guerlain, 68 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, marked the culmination of this artistic celebration.
For its 16th edition, Guerlain, as the host partner of Paris+ par Art Basel, enlisted curator and art consultant Hervé Mikaeloff to assemble the exhibition. Mikaeloff curated a selection of 26 artists from diverse backgrounds and different generations, each expressing themes such as the fragility and beauty of the planet, humanity’s connection with the natural world, decadence and debauchery, and love and passion. The artists showcased their creations in various mediums, including paintings, photographs, videos, and installations. Notably, ten of the exhibited works were specially commissioned for the theme “The Flowers of Evil.”
The exhibition, presented across three levels at Maison Guerlain, featured works by artists such as Anna Aagaard Jensen, Pauline d’Andigné, Joël Andrianomearisoa, Jean-Marie Appriou, Nobuyoshi Araki, Marcella Barceló, Alvaro Barrington, Alina Bliumis, Francesco Clemente, Johan Creten, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, Mimosa Echard, Laurent Grasso, Oda Jaune, Anselm Kiefer, Roni Landa, Robert Mapplethorpe, Thandiwe Muriu, Duy Anh Nhan Duc, Not Vital, Ghizlane Sahli, Jennifer Steinkamp, Lise Stoufflet, Mykola Tolmachev, Yan Pei-Ming, and Jiang Zhi. The past event showcased the rich tapestry of artistic expression and exploration.
