Emira GT4 Marks a New Chapter in Lotus’ Racing Legacy

The Lotus Emira GT4 is currently being produced and is prepared for delivery to its initial customers, boasting a considerably enhanced specification and improved performance. The first units of the highly anticipated new Lotus race car are scheduled to be shipped to owners throughout the summer. Orders have been received from various regions including the UK, Europe, China, Australia, and the USA.

The Emira GT4 has received homologation for participation in global GT4 classes and, due to its extensive options list, it is also eligible for other specialized race series worldwide that do not require homologation.

Following extensive development work undertaken by the Lotus team in collaboration with the renowned motorsport partner RML Group, the car has undergone upgrades since its unveiling at a VIP event in Hethel, Norfolk, the previous year. Notable improvements include a power increase of over 10% to reach 455 bhp, the incorporation of a brand-new six-speed paddleshift sequential racing gearbox and control system, optimized aerodynamics suitable for both tight and twisty as well as fast and flowing circuits, and enhancements to the braking system, springs, damping, and cooling packs.

Gavan Kershaw, Director of Vehicle Attributes at Lotus and a former British GT Championship winner, has played a pivotal role in the development of the Emira GT4 since its inception. He expressed his involvement, stating, “The Emira road car served as an exceptional foundation for the GT4, and in collaboration with the RML team, we have further refined and fine-tuned the package to create what we believe is a highly competitive and performance-driven race car. We are aware of our customers’ eagerness to experience it firsthand, and we anticipate witnessing their achievements on the track.”

The Emira GT4 represents the culmination of 75 years of innovation on the road and track for Lotus, ushering in an exciting new era in performance GT racing. With a rich history in motorsport, Lotus has been a prominent figure in the racing world since its founder, Colin Chapman, built the first Lotus car, the Mk I, in 1948 as a trials vehicle.

Known for their technical advancements that have shaped the sport, Lotus has a distinguished track record of success, including seven Formula 1 Constructors’ titles, six Drivers’ Championships, and a remarkable victory in the renowned Indianapolis 500. Their most recent racing endeavors involved the Evora GT4, which achieved notable wins and championships in prestigious races such as the British GT, Dubai 24hrs, Barcelona 24hrs, European GT, Sepang 12hrs, and the Pirelli World Challenge.

The Emira GT4 customer cars are meticulously hand-built by the RML team at a dedicated production facility in Wellingborough, UK. Without any production limits, Lotus aims to cater to the demand for this high-performance vehicle. The price of the Emira GT4 is set at £179,000, excluding taxes and delivery charges.
