In the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve directs “Dune: Part Two” with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune” is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.
The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller with returning and new stars, including Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka,” “Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Malcolm & Marie,” “Euphoria”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”), Josh Brolin (“Avengers: End Game,” “Milk”), Austin Butler (“Elvis,” “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood”), Florence Pugh (“Black Widow,” “Little Women”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Stephen McKinley Henderson (“Fences,” “Lady Bird”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”), all of whom contribute to the film’s diverse and talented ensemble.
The mythic journey of Paul Atreides, as he seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family, forms the core of “Dune: Part Two.” Villeneuve directs the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts, based on Herbert’s novel. Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe, and Patrick McCormick produce the film, while Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert serve as executive producers. Kevin J. Anderson acts as a creative consultant.
Villeneuve reunites with the “Dune” creatives for “Dune: Part Two,” including Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser, Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette, Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker, Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert, and Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Hans Zimmer, an Oscar-winning composer, is back to create the score.
The film was shot on location in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Italy, and is set to be released worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures on November 3, 2023. In the film, Paul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen, facing a difficult choice between the fate of the known universe and the love of his life. His goal is to prevent a catastrophic future that only he can foresee.
