On March 16, Six Senses Rome will open its doors in the historical Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini, offering a peaceful haven in the bustling Eternal City. The hotel’s milestone opening coincides with the completion of the renovation of the adjacent San Marcello al Corso Church’s magnificent façade, which marks the hotel’s first sustainability project.

The hotel’s 96 guest rooms and suites pay homage to Roman traditions with features such as Cocciopesto on the walls and the extensive use of local Travertine stone. Some of the rooms even boast iconic Triclinium-style marble seating on their terraces. The hotel also incorporates state-of-the-art in-room technology and Sleep With Six Senses standards of bespoke homemade and organic mattresses, cotton bedding, pillows, and additional amenities to promote a good night’s sleep.

With 12 different accommodation categories, including three signature suites with individual designs, guests can choose from secluded rooms with courtyard views or suites facing the bustling Via del Corso and the neighboring San Marcello al Corso Church. Despite its prime location in the heart of the city, the hotel provides a sense of calmness and tranquility, offering a welcome respite after a busy day of sightseeing.

True to the Eat With Six Senses ethos, Six Senses Rome’s menus celebrate local culinary traditions, available at the BIVIUM Restaurant-Café-Bar or NOTOS Rooftop. The menu includes a Roman Empire-inspired 5-course tasting menu, along with plant-based, meat, fish, and sweet dishes infused with Sicilian flavors, honoring the Executive Chef’s home favorites. The brand’s food and drink philosophy emphasizes the use of natural and seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and suppliers.

The Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini, where Six Senses Rome is located, is a treasure trove of wonders. The marble staircase with its decorative skylight and newly restored 600-year-old columns in the main entrance are among its highlights. The BIVIUM Restaurant-Café-Bar is located above a fourth-century baptismal bath, uncovered during archaeological excavations in the early 1900s, and now visible beneath the glass floor tiles.

The classical elements of the Palazzo blend seamlessly with the contemporary, sustainable design by architect Patricia Urquiola. Abundant plants throughout the hotel create a strong sense of reconnection with nature.

According to local legend, she nursed the newborn twin founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, and has become an iconic symbol of the city.
