Fisker Inc., a California-based company, revealed today further details about the Fisker PEAR, an innovative and cost-effective crossover vehicle priced at $29,900. During their inaugural Product Vision Day, held on August 3, the company showcased the PEAR, which is set to be manufactured in the United States through a partnership with Foxconn at a facility in Ohio.

It was also announced by Fisker that a production-ready version of the PEAR will be publicly displayed at the Fisker Lounge Munich (located on Kaufingerstrasse) from September 4 to 10, coinciding with the IAA Mobility 2023 event in Munich.

The PEAR features an entirely new light steel body structure, with Fisker’s engineering and design teams successfully reducing the number of components by 35%. Measuring approximately 15 feet in length (4550mm), it is smaller than the Fisker Ocean SUV, which started deliveries in the second quarter of 2023. The vehicle boasts a unique Houdini trunk, designed to facilitate easy loading and unloading in tight street parking situations and provide protection in low-ceiling parking structures by moving the trunk lid and glass behind the rear bumper beam. (The Houdini trunk was demonstrated at a slow speed on August 3 for video recording, with the production version operating at higher speeds.)

Other notable features include a front boot, referred to as the “froot,” which can store various items, from pizza deliveries to sweaty workout gear. This froot option also comes with insulation for keeping food hot or cold. The cabin itself is engineered for durability, devoid of fragile moving parts, making it suitable for car-sharing applications, families with active lifestyles, or those seeking ample storage space.

The PEAR introduces a Lounge Mode, where all seats can be folded flat, including the rear seats folding backward into the trunk area to create a spacious lounge for watching movies or taking a break. An optional 17.1-inch rotating screen for entertainment will be available in Lounge Mode. Additionally, the five-seat configuration can be expanded to seat six individuals by replacing the single front passenger seat and center console with a large two-seat bench.

Inside, the PEAR will incorporate recycled and bio-based materials, aligning with Fisker’s sustainability goals. The PEAR is a key component of Fisker’s ambition to produce a carbon-neutral vehicle by 2027. While the vehicle’s final production form has been revealed, the exterior camera mirrors are still undergoing evaluation.

The PEAR will offer two battery options, providing an estimated range of 180 miles for the lightest and most sustainable version or 320 miles for extended journeys. It is projected to achieve a base 0-60mph time of 6.3 seconds and a 0-100 km/h time of 6.8 seconds. The PEAR will be available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations, equipped with standard 20-inch wheels and optional 22-inch wheels featuring high-performance tires. An enhanced performance model, the Fisker PEAR Extreme, will also join the lineup.

The PEAR will be the first Fisker vehicle to incorporate the company’s in-house-designed High-Performance Computer, known as the Fisker Blade. This computer will revolutionize the connected and digital customer experience in the era of software-defined vehicles, boasting speed, energy efficiency, safety, and cybersecurity. Encased in a slim, modular, and fully upgradable unit, the Fisker Blade delivers up to 6.2 TFLOPs and up to 25% greater performance per watt. The system employs an asymmetric processing architecture to maximize power efficiency. The vehicle features a multi-gigabit internal Ethernet network connecting various vehicle systems to the Fisker Blade for high-speed networking and diagnostics. With a 5G/Wi-Fi6 wireless network, the PEAR transforms into a cloud-connected mini data center, with Fisker responsible for both the vehicle system software and data pipeline for efficient cloud and in-car analytics.
