The Vantage has a long history dating back to 1950, known for its style, performance, and character. This new version continues that tradition.  In recent times, Aston Martin has been doing well in Formula One and GT racing, and they’re aiming for victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours race with the Valkyrie AMR in 2025.  Aston Martin’s CEO, Amedeo Felisa, says the new Vantage stays true to the brand’s legacy of high-performance. It’s powerful, advanced, and stylish, offering a thrilling driving experience with top-notch technology.

The new Vantage, powered by a heavily reworked 4.0 Twin-Turbo V8 engine, is the fastest one ever made. It reaches peaks of 665PS and a massive 800Nm of torque, which is a huge increase compared to the previous model. This boost in power and torque, up by 155PS and 115Nm respectively, amounts to gains of 30% and 15%.

Aston Martin’s engineers achieved these higher outputs through lots of adjustments. They tweaked cam profiles, compression ratios, and turbo sizes, and improved cooling. These changes give the engine a sharper, more intense, and louder character.

Paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, this power propels the two-seater sports car to a top speed of 202mph and accelerates it from 0 to 60mph in just 3.4 seconds. The Final Drive Ratio and transmission shift calibration have been fine-tuned to maximize response and enjoyment. The Launch Control system ensures perfect standing start acceleration. It works with the powertrain, transmission, and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) to deploy torque efficiently, keeping wheel slip optimal throughout the launch. The Adjustable Traction Control (ATC) system lets the driver adjust slip levels during launch for precise control.

To handle the increased engine performance, the cooling system has been completely redesigned. Extra radiators have been added to maintain stable intake air temperatures, and the oil system has been upgraded with larger coolers and improved airflow.  All these improvements ensure that the new Vantage delivers outstanding performance while keeping everything running smoothly and reliably.

The foundation for an amazing driving experience is laid with the highly advanced bonded aluminum structure, perfect weight distribution, and cutting-edge suspension of the new Vantage. Constructed with Aston Martin’s latest generation bonded aluminum technology, the Vantage boasts a sturdier body structure for enhanced dynamics, thanks to extra components strengthening its underbody.

Improvements include re-engineering and repositioning of the front body cross member to enhance mounting point stiffness for the double-wishbone front suspension, resulting in better steering feel. Additionally, a stiffer yet lighter front engine cross brace boosts torsional rigidity and lateral stiffness between the front suspension towers. At the rear, there’s a significant 29% increase in stiffness under cornering load, along with revisions to undertrays, enhancing lateral stiffness.

Intelligent adaptive dampers provide an immense range of control and response speed, allowing engineers to sharpen the Vantage’s dynamics to the fullest. The Electronic Power Assisted Steering system ensures direct and uncorrupted steering inputs, with variable assistance integrated into dynamic mode programs.

The Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires, specifically designed for the Vantage, enhance steering response and grip levels. The car comes with standard 21-inch forged alloy wheels, available in different designs and finishes. It also features cast-iron front and rear discs, with the option for Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB) for increased performance and reduced fade.

CCB offers improved braking performance and reduced fade at high temperatures, while also saving weight compared to the standard braking system, leading to better ride quality and steering response.

Aston Martin’s engineers have equipped the Vantage with state-of-the-art Active Vehicle Dynamics control to maximize its performance and create a distinctive dynamic character. The focus is on improving agility, steering response, precision, and feedback, making the car inviting for drivers to push its limits while maintaining confidence and control.

At the heart of the Vantage’s enhanced handling is an advanced vehicle dynamics control system. This system gathers data from various sensors including accelerometers, powertrain, braking, and E-Diff sensors to understand the car’s behavior and manage the ESP system accordingly. By analyzing this data alongside Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Estimation parameters, the ESP can actively adjust the vehicle’s ride, handling, and steering to optimize response and behavior in all conditions.

The new system incorporates a cutting-edge 6D-IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that monitors the car’s movements and acceleration in all directions, ensuring precise ESP intervention. Power is transmitted through a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission and Electronic Rear Differential (E-Diff), which provides immediate and precise control for optimized traction and handling.

Integrated Brake Slip Control (IBC) and Integrated Traction Control (ITC) further enhance traction and stability by managing braking, engine, and differential functions. Integrated Vehicle Dynamics Control (IVC) coordinates the brakes, powertrain, and E-Diff to optimize balance and handling, providing predictive activation for smoother ESP interventions.

The ESP and E-Diff work together to adapt to different driving situations, ensuring stability in tight turns and high-speed curves. The ESP is designed not just for safety but also as a performance aid, with features like Adjustable Traction Control (ATC) allowing drivers to adjust wheel slip levels for different driving conditions or skill levels.

ATC offers various settings to control wheel slip, enabling drivers to gradually build confidence and improve their skills before turning off traction control entirely for complete control of the car through throttle and steering inputs alone.
