Jaeger-LeCoultre announces the grand transformation of its flagship boutique at 701 Madison Avenue. This occasion opens a fresh chapter in the Maison’s enduring relationship with New York City, inviting visitors to embark on a journey into the fascinating world of watchmaking and the remarkable story of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s heritage, expertise, and creativity.
Located at the same address as the Maison’s previous boutique, the new flagship is significantly larger than its predecessor. The entrance, nestled between two large windows, commands a strong presence on the street and radiates a sense of openness and welcome. Inside, the double-height space echoes the serenity and beauty of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s home in the Vallée de Joux, with a focus on natural colors and organic materials such as limestone and oak, accented by black brushed metal.
The open-plan main floor has been meticulously designed to offer various levels of interaction for visitors, allowing them to delve deeper into the Maison and the art of watchmaking. Directly facing the entrance, the Craftsmanship Table invites exploration of the beauty of the Métiers Rares, showcasing skills like enameling, engraving, and gem-setting – just a glimpse into the 180 crafts housed within Jaeger-LeCoultre’s integrated Manufacture. Adjacent to the Craftsmanship Table, a display case exhibits a selection of the rarest and most precious timepieces from the current collection.
To the right, arranged in an oval formation, display counters showcase highlights from the Maison’s current collections. Nearby, an interactive calibre wall captivates visitors, showcasing some of the most emblematic of the 1400+ calibers created by the Maison since its inception. Further along, an interactive Strap Wall allows clients to personalize their timepieces, experimenting with various options to find their perfect combination of watch case and strap.
On the left side of the entrance, visitors are encouraged to enhance their Maison experience by pausing at the 1931 Café. Named after the year of the iconic Reverso’s inception, the café features a bespoke tile pattern inspired by Alex Trochut’s lettering, paying homage to the Art Deco design of the Reverso.
Adjacent to the café, a Cabinet de Curiosités offers an intriguing display of objects that narrate the story of the Manufacture and its three principal fields of watchmaking excellence. At the center of the cabinet, a screen allows visitors to choose from a library of educational “In The Making” videos, offering insights into Jaeger-LeCoultre’s watchmaking process.
Deep within the boutique, steps lead to a secluded VIP Lounge where clients can explore exceptional timepieces in privacy. Nearby, a dramatic staircase spirals up to a glass mezzanine housing the Atelier d’Antoine, where themed Discovery Workshops offer hands-on watchmaking experiences in a dynamic format.
Demonstrating Jaeger-LeCoultre’s dedication to excellence, an in-house watchmaker is stationed at the boutique to undertake tasks such as bracelet adjustments and after-sale services. More than just a retail space, the new flagship on Madison Avenue invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of watchmaking and the remarkable story of Jaeger-LeCoultre, embracing the Maison’s heritage, expertise, and spirit of innovation and creativity.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre flagship boutique is located at 701 Madison Avenue, New York, and will be open to guests Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
