The Jekyll Island Club and Ocean Club are ready for the holiday season. They welcome guests with events that make celebrating easier and more enjoyable.
It starts with Chef’s Tasting Wine Dinners from November 18-21. Guests at 80 Ocean Kitchen and Bar can enjoy a tasting menu paired with wines from the Noble House cellar. Thanksgiving Day follows with a buffet in the Grand Dining Room, including a range of dishes and games for kids. For a quieter meal, 80 Ocean Kitchen also offers a four-course prix-fixe Thanksgiving dinner. Reservations are required.
On November 29, “Rock the Dock” kicks off with an oyster roast at The Wharf. There’s fresh seafood, live music, and plenty of room to enjoy it all. Guests can stay the weekend with a Book Three Pay for Two special.
For those cooking at home, Jekyll Island Club’s Culinary Director, Jim Anile, has advice. He recommends trying a capon if turkey is too much. Or, for a faster cook time, he suggests spatchcocking a turkey over stuffing on a sheet pan. For wine, he recommends a Cote de Rhone, something light that pairs well with Thanksgiving flavors.
December brings more. Jekyll Island lights up with 1.5 million lights, and the Island Club hosts the “12 Treats of Christmas” with cocktails, coffee, and desserts, each with a rotating discount through January 5.
The club offers Holiday High Tea, a Polar Express family night, and a holiday concert by SCAD’s Bee Sharps vocal group. Breakfast with the Grinch and Lunch with Santa are also on the calendar. Christmas Eve brings a five-course dinner in the Grand Dining Room. New Year’s Eve closes the season with a Gatsby-themed party in the Morgan Center, with live music and a toast at midnight. Jekyll Island also has a Winter Carnival, Holiday Light Parade, and drive-in movies to finish the year.
