The Luxury Collection, a distinguished brand within Marriott Bonvoy’s extensive portfolio, has proudly unveiled the opening of Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich. Located in the heart of Munich’s historic “Stachus” Square, this hotel marks The Luxury Collection’s debut in Germany. Designed by the internationally renowned architects Nieto Sobejano, the hotel showcases a contemporary design that encapsulates Munich’s sophisticated charm, blending the city’s rich cultural history with modern elegance to offer guests exceptional and transformative experiences.
Guided by the expertise of Nieto Sobejano Architects and Landau + Kindelbacher, the revitalization of this historic site respects its heritage while introducing a fresh interpretation of luxury. Upon entering, guests are welcomed by a stunning, expansive atrium that embodies the “Stachus Serenity” design theme, emphasizing uniqueness and local connectivity. The architectural design includes louvered structures and large, golden walls, opening the facade to Stachus Square and creating a seamless integration between the hotel’s interior and exterior, crafting a luxurious urban haven.
Art is a central element within the hotel, enhancing the guest experience by reflecting the legacy of the House of Wittelsbach, Bavaria’s former ruling family and avid art collectors from the 16th century. The Koenigshof aims to harmonize Bavaria’s historic art tradition with Munich’s contemporary art scene. The hotel’s collection includes works from esteemed artists such as Joseph Beuys, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, and David John Flynn, perfectly complementing its architectural and interior design.
The hotel features 106 elegantly designed guestrooms and suites, combining modern luxury with sophisticated interiors, curated Bavarian artworks, and advanced technology. Each room offers a peaceful retreat from the city’s vibrant energy, featuring dark wood-paneled walls, neutral-toned fabrics, and floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning city views. Rooms are infused with local charm, including welcome cards illustrated by Munich designer Alexandra von Frankenberg, a custom Koenigshof fragrance, and a bespoke “Munich Serenity” tea blend by Samova Tea, made with over twelve local herbs. High-end amenities such as Byredo toiletries, Nespresso machines, Dyson Supersonic hairdryers, and Bose Bluetooth speakers ensure an indulgent stay.
The hotel’s crown jewel is the expansive 250-square-meter Presidential Suite, spanning the eighth and ninth floors. As Munich’s largest hotel suite, it offers unparalleled luxury with features including a private sauna, a pool with city views, a counter-current system, massage jets, a private spa with premium products, a relaxation area with a Smart TV, and an exclusive room service menu.
Dining at Koenigshof offers three unique experiences. The signature restaurant, GRETA OTO Munich, on the ninth floor, provides panoramic city views and vibrant Latin American cuisine curated by acclaimed Peruvian chef Michael Cánepa. On weekends, the restaurant and bar transform into a lively social venue with Amazonian cocktails. The Green lounge offers a peaceful setting for local delicacies, including the specially crafted Koenigshof tea and the “Koenigshof-Torte,” a unique take on the Bavarian “Prinzregententorte.” The Gold lounge, located on the third floor, presents a serene, residential-style space with a curated selection of books and artwork, an outdoor terrace, and spectacular views of the city and Bavarian Alps. Guests can savor the exclusive Koenigshof Bellini, made with mountain peach puree, Amalfi Coast lemon oil, and Ruinart Brut Champagne.
For private events, The View on the ninth floor accommodates up to 50 guests, featuring a private bar, lounge, and terrace access, complemented by GRETA OTO’s culinary offerings. The Studio on the third floor provides an intimate setting for gatherings of up to 12 guests, complete with a private bar.
