This year marks the centennial celebration of Vår Gård, the hotel and conference destination, commencing with the inauguration of the restaurant in Villa Skärtofta. An elaborate tasting menu, featuring Italian influences, awaits guests.
Known for its impressive art collection, Vår Gård showcases works by local talents such as Isaac Grünewald, sculptures by Carl Milles, and a ceramic painting by Chagall. In conjunction with the opening of Villa Skärtofta, a new art project is launched, inviting contemporary art to engage in dialogue with select pieces from the collection. Temporary exhibitions will be housed at Villa Skärtofta, with glass artist Evelina Dovsten leading the inaugural showcase.
Originally designed by architect Gustaf Lindgren, Villa Skärtofta served as a private residence for engineer John Bernström, his Danish-born wife Hanne Andersen, and their 11 children. Completed in 1897, it stood as one of the area’s earliest private residences and among Saltsjöbaden’s most exclusive villas, boasting modern amenities like electricity and an electrically operated passenger lift.
Now, a century later, Villa Skärtofta welcomes dinner guests, its historic aesthetics softened by Elin Lervik, strategic advisor and co-author of the book “Hemtrevligt” (Bonnier Fakta, 2023).
Part of Vår Gård in Saltsjöbaden, the new restaurant opens its doors on February 10, 2024. Offering a fixed tasting menu at SEK 1,500 per person and a drink package at SEK 1,050 per person, it promises an exquisite dining experience.
