Banyan Tree Samui has recently introduced a new sous chef, Mr. Kitja Muakin, to its esteemed Thai restaurant, Saffron, coinciding with the restaurant’s inclusion in the 2024 MICHELIN Guide for Thailand.

Affectionately known as Chef Bobby, Kitja has joined the Saffron team, bringing with him a wealth of experience garnered from his tenure at various Banyan Tree properties across Asia. His culinary journey began in 2012 in Phuket, after completing his studies in Kitchen and Restaurant Management at Dusit Thani College in Bangkok. He has since served as commis and demi-chef at Banyan Tree Bangkok and Banyan Tree Macau, respectively, before contributing to the opening of Saffron at Banyan Tree Krabi in 2020.

Saffron, renowned for its authentic Thai cuisine, is situated atop a hillside overlooking the picturesque Banyan Tree Samui resort, offering breathtaking sunset vistas over the sea.

The restaurant’s award-winning menu features signature dishes such as Khong Wang Ruam, an appetizer platter showcasing a variety of Thai delicacies, and Pu Nim Thod Yum Lychee Nham Sawaros, a tantalizing blend of crispy soft-shell crab and exotic flavors.
