In a cinematic comeback to the iconic dystopian universe he first introduced more than 30 years ago with the renowned “Mad Max” series, visionary filmmaker George Miller, an Academy Award winner, directs “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” featuring the stellar performances of Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth.
This eagerly awaited standalone action adventure, produced by Miller and his long-standing collaborator Doug Mitchell under the Kennedy Miller Mitchell banner, promises to unveil the origins of the formidable character from the critically acclaimed “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
As the world descends into turmoil, young Furiosa is forcibly taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers and thrust into the clutches of the Warlord Dementus, leading a formidable Biker Horde across the Wasteland. Their journey brings them to the Citadel, governed by The Immortan Joe, sparking a power struggle between the two tyrants. In the midst of this conflict, Furiosa must navigate a series of trials to gather the resources needed to find her way home.
The film’s ensemble cast includes Taylor-Joy in the lead role, supported by Hemsworth, Alyla Browne, and Tom Burke. Collaborating with Miller on the screenplay is Nico Lathouris, his co-writer from “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
The talented behind-the-scenes team consists of first assistant director PJ Voeten, second unit director and stunt coordinator Guy Norris, director of photography Simon Duggan, composer Tom Holkenborg, sound designer Robert Mackenzie, editor Eliot Knapman, visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson, and colorist Eric Whipp. Returning to contribute their expertise are long-time partners, including production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound mixer Ben Osmo, costume designer Jenny Beavan, and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt, all of whom previously earned Oscars for their outstanding work on “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
