Emilio Estefan, a Grammy-winning producer, collaborated with SohoMuse, the trailblazing social network founded by Consuelo Vanderbilt, to present an innovative show titled “Latin Ignition – The Magic of Art” during New York Fashion Week. Emilio Estefan, known for his Cuban-American heritage and impressive collection of 19 Grammy Awards, initially rose to prominence as a member of the Miami Sound Machine. He is not only a celebrated musician and producer but also the husband of the renowned singer Gloria Estefan, the father of Nayib Estefan and Emily Estefan, and the uncle of the well-known Spanish-language television personality Lili Estefan.
Estefan’s influence has been instrumental in the crossover success of Latin music in the late 90s, having catapulted artists such as his wife Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Ricky Martin, and Shakira into the spotlight of the US music scene.
The event unfolded at the iconic Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, where a multitude of prominent guests converged. Alongside Estefan Enterprises, Inc., the event showcased the captivating creations of acclaimed designers, including Alvin Valley, Laura Garcia, Nabys Vielman, and César Galindo. The runway within the revered halls of the art institute featured mesmerizing collections, accompanied by live performances from Los Rabanes and DJ Hex Hector, which enthralled the captivated audience.
“Latin Ignition” represented a movement that celebrated the work of some of the most prolific Latino artisans, recognizing that the Latin American demographic comprises approximately 18% of the United States population, making it a significant creative force in the country. Notably, the producers ensured that every contributor, from designers and models to the behind-the-scenes hair and makeup artists, received fair financial compensation, reflecting a profound respect for the arts and fashion industry. Estefan and Consuelo set a groundbreaking example during NYFW, advocating for inclusivity at all levels, which is poised to inspire positive change on a global scale.
The event garnered support from notable sponsors, including the Family Office Association, Keystone National Properties (KNPRE), Known Holdings, and JP Morgan Chase & Co.
