The Toyota Supra has been an iconic favorite among sports car enthusiasts for over four decades. From its origins as the Celica Supra in 1979 to its current fifth-generation form as the GR Supra, this model has won the hearts of drivers with its impressive power, handling, tech, and style. In 2024, Toyota is celebrating its history with the striking 45th Anniversary Edition.
To honor the Supra models of the 1990s, the GR Supra 45th Anniversary edition will be available in two eye-catching options: a deep orange called Mikan Blast (which means orange in Japanese) or a cool Absolute Zero. Based on the 3.0 Premium Grade, this GR Supra features a sleek, compact design highlighted by a large, manually adjustable rear spoiler. The spoiler sits about three inches above the rear decklid and can be adjusted with a screw to change the angle and influence the downforce on the rear wheels.
The 45th Anniversary Edition also includes matte-black finished 19-inch aluminum wheels, black painted opposite mounted brake calipers with a GR logo up front, and a black side panel graphic featuring a Supra logo that sweeps upward along the side, accentuating the vehicle’s contours. The special edition brings a nostalgic touch and extra flair to the 2024 Supra lineup, reminiscent of the famous MkIV model seen on the big screen. Limited to 900 units, with an equal split between Mikan Blast and Absolute Zero, the engine will be accompanied by exclusive 45th Anniversary Edition Mikan Blast strut tower braces bearing the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing logo. The car will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options and will be powered by the same B58 inline six-cylinder 3.0-liter turbocharged engine found in all 3.0 Supra models, delivering 382 horsepower and 368 lb.-ft. of torque.
The GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition follows the nameplate’s tradition of offering unique versions since its relaunch. Since 2019, Toyota has introduced special editions such as the Launch, A91, A91 Carbon Fiber, and A91MT. Over the past four model years, the GR Supra has continued to evolve, with enhancements like increased horsepower and torque on the 3.0 models, improved handling dynamics, the addition of a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder model, and the availability of a Manual Transmission option. Toyota GAZOO Racing also joined the action in 2020 with the production of the GR Supra GT4 model for racing enthusiasts.
The GR Supra 45th Anniversary models are expected to arrive at Toyota dealerships in the fall of 2023. Pricing for the special edition model and further details about the complete 2024 GR Supra lineup will be announced at a later date.
