The annual Dubai Food Festival returns from April 21 to May 7, showcasing the diverse and evolving culinary landscape of the city through numerous restaurants, cafés, and eateries. Over the past decade, Dubai’s food scene has experienced a remarkable transformation, with the number of restaurants increasing from 5,500 in 2013 to over 13,000 in 2023.
According to Ahmed Al Khaja, the DFF 2023 will be the festival’s largest edition yet, highlighting the best of Dubai’s gastronomy scene while providing affordable prices and showcasing top culinary talent. The festival celebrates the unique and diverse gastro experiences of Dubai, such as pop-up dining events, farm-to-table dining experiences, hidden gem locations, and quirky food halls.

The festival will feature a combination of old favorites and new features, including culinary workshops, Dubai Restaurant Week, Etisalat Beach Canteen, and the 10 Dirham Dish. Scheduled to return for its 10th edition, the Dubai Food Festival (DFF) is the most prominent annual culinary celebration in the Middle East. Over the 17-day festival, the city will be transformed into a foodie’s paradise, with numerous restaurants, cafés, and eateries offering distinctive and captivating culinary experiences and home-grown concepts.
Over the past ten years, Dubai’s food scene has undergone a significant transformation, establishing the city as a leading global gastronomy hub and reinforcing its status as the food capital of the world. The number of restaurants in Dubai has more than doubled during this period, from approximately 5,500 in 2013 to over 13,000 in 2023, indicating significant growth in the food sector.
Dubai has witnessed the emergence of exciting food concepts, pop-up dining events, hidden gem locations, farm-to-table dining experiences, and quirky food halls, which were not part of the gastronomy scene a decade ago. These diverse and unique gastro experiences are celebrated at DFF, which also recognizes the city’s exceptional culinary talent through global awards such as the Michelin Guide Dubai, Gault&Millau UAE guide, and MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Dubai Restaurant Week made its debut during DFF 2016, providing exclusive dining experiences at some of the city’s top restaurants and offering a chance to savor Dubai’s diverse culinary offerings at value prices. The thriving homegrown culinary industry in Dubai is putting the city on the global culinary map, and these developments are evidence of the flourishing gastronomy sector in the city. The upcoming 10th edition of the DFF promises to be an exciting display of Dubai’s diverse and evolving culinary landscape.
