The reopening of Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel on Nice’s boardwalk marks a triumphant return of one of the most storied hotels on the Côte d’Azur and a continuation of Anantara’s European expansion. The heritage property overlooking the Promenade des Anglais blends old-world elegance with contemporary luxuries, having undergone an extensive two-year renovation to its Belle Époque-era glory.
Situated at the entrance to Nice’s Golden Square, the hotel offers a stunning view of Le Jardin Albert 1er and the Promenade des Anglais. With 151 rooms and 38 suites, the 175-year-old building features a new Anantara Spa, a seminar space with six meeting rooms and a ballroom, as well as a stylish rooftop restaurant and bar with a 360-degree panoramic view of the Baie des Anges and Old Nice.
A consortium of architects including David Collins Studio, Jean-Paul Gomis, and TBC Studio, delivered elegant interiors that blend old-world elegance with contemporary luxuries. The design honors the Neo-classical style of the original hotel, which opened in 1848 as Nice’s very first luxury hotel, bringing the heritage building on Nice’s Avenue de Verdun up to date with modern tastes.
The guest rooms and suites of Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel combine comfortable sophistication with exclusive Anantara touches. Inspired by the Mediterranean Sea and the golden era of the Côte d’Azur, the marble-clad interiors feature pastel tones and rich Mediterranean textures to create a tranquil atmosphere, with subtle accents of wood and gold. The rooms offer views of the sea or manicured gardens.
The Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel offers guests the chance to experience the French Riviera in style. The Baie des Anges Signature Suite, spanning 581 square feet, features a spacious living area, kitchenette, and panoramic terrace overlooking the famous bay. For an even grander experience, the Presidential Suite on the 5th floor offers 807 square feet of elegant space, complete with breathtaking views of the Baie des Anges from a sun-soaked terrace.
On the hotel’s iconic rooftop, SEEN by Olivier serves contemporary Mediterranean cuisine and imaginative mixology from Portuguese chef-entrepreneur Olivier da Costa. Les Colonnades, a glamorous caviar and Champagne lounge, provides guests with fresh seafood, local cuisine, wine by the glass, and signature Afternoon Tea à la Niçoise. Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel also offers a range of private guest experiences, including a tour exploring the creative life of Coco Chanel and the art of glassblowing in the French countryside.
The hotel’s Anantara Spa, featuring marine skincare products, natural essential oils, and Asian therapies, offers a serene retreat for the senses. Guests can also enjoy working out in the 24-hour fitness center or under the guidance of personal trainers. The hotel is centrally located for exploring nearby attractions, such as hilltop villages, vineyards, and architectural gems.
