Mark Wahlberg and his brother Paul, who is the chef behind the award-winning menu at Wahlburgers, were presented with the Key to the Las Vegas Strip at the grand opening of their newest restaurant at Mandalay Bay within The Shoppes at Mandalay Place. The event was attended by hundreds of fans who gathered outside the new location, which is the second Wahlburgers in Las Vegas, the first being the one in the Grand Bazaar Shops at Horseshoe that opened in 2016.
During interviews on the red carpet, Mark joked with Paul about moving to Las Vegas and highlighted the city’s desirable schools, churches, and homes. Afterward, the brothers went inside where Mark took countless selfies with fans and even stepped behind the bar to pour shots of his Flecha Azul tequila. He also took photos with all the employees, including spending over 30 minutes getting to know the cooks in the kitchen.
Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft, whose district includes the Las Vegas Strip, welcomed the brothers and presented them with the key, which also honored their brother and Wahlburgers partner, Donnie Wahlberg. The key recognizes the expansion of the franchise and the brothers’ contributions to the vitality of the Las Vegas Strip. Notable individuals who have received a Key to the Las Vegas Strip include Katy Perry, Tiësto, and Jimmy Kimmel.
The grand opening was attended by over 150 VIP guests, including fellow Bostonian and globally renowned chef Todd English, and DJ and podcast superstar Whoo Kid.
The new Wahlburgers spans 5,000 square feet, accommodating up to 150 guests and featuring an oversized bar, perfect for enjoying a beer, adult shake, or “Wahlcoction” while catching the game. HDTVs are situated throughout the restaurant, ensuring that diners won’t miss a moment of the action, whether seated in the dining room or at the bar.
Established in Hingham, Massachusetts in 2011, Wahlburgers has expanded to over 90 locations across the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
