Qatar has eight spectacular FIFA World Cup 2022™ stadiums spread across the country – but none are more than an hour away from one another.

Culture is a significant theme across every stadium. Each new venue has been designed in tribute to Qatar’s rich traditions, heritage and location – offering fans a unique world of discovery.

Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium – Where desert stories unfold

Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, a 40,000-seat stadium with a stunning exterior telling the story of Qatar, sits at the gateway to the desert. The stadium’s design is inspired by aspects of the local culture and traditions. This can be seen in the intricate façade, which mirrors the sweeping undulations of the nearby sand dunes, while beautiful geometric patterns depict different characteristics of the country.

Al Janoub Stadium – See football sail into a new era

AI Janoub Stadium’s design brings the city of AI Wakrah’s fishing and pearl diving history to life. Its graceful lines and flowing curves were inspired by traditional dhow boats weaving through the currents of the Gulf. This futuristic 40,000-seat arena bridges the old and new – a strong visual representation of Qatar’s drive to reach beyond its shores.

Al Thumama Stadium – A coming of age for the beautiful game

The beautiful 40,000-seat Al Thumama Stadium is inspired by the gahfiya, a cap worn to hold men’s traditional headdresses in place, as well as on its own by boys. The arena’s emotive design tugs at the heartstrings of Qataris and people across the region. More importantly, its cultural role marks every young boy’s path into adulthood.
