L’isola Amotea’s SS22 resort collection “L’isola” – The Island – is inspired by the well-being and intimacy that make Italian islands special: Sicily and in particular the island of Lampedusa, a bridge in the heart of the Mediterranean: a land pervaded by authentic uniqueness, between dreamy landscapes and waters, animal and plant species unknown elsewhere, sunsets that have few equals for their intensity.
These landscapes and the cultural depth of the Mediterranean imaginary can be seen reflected in the colors and prints designed ad hoc by illustrator Carlotta Varrenti, developed on natural fabrics such as linen and cotton gauze.
In the collection there is an air of summer and happiness, transferred to multi-colored linens, made exclusively on Italian looms by the designer, evoking the charming dawns on the island, a metaphor for rebirth.
The leopards, the banana trees and the sterlizia flowers embroidered on the clothes, on the other hand, are inspired by the place that hosted the shooting of the “Il Gattopardo di Lampedusa” campaign, a historic resort, symbol par excellence of the good hospitality of the island, in an harmonious relationship with the surrounding environment.
The soft and degradé colored knitwear dresses complement the collection emphasizing craftsmanship and experimentation with new sustainable fibers, an element that has accompanied the design of the brand from its beginnings.
