Scandic Grand Central Helsinki has reopened its doors on April 15 after two years of the renovation. Scandic Grand Central Helsinki is a unique hotel experience in the historic Art Nouveau building, formerly known as the head office of Finland’s railway company.
The hotel interior has an old-fashioned charm with modern interiors. The northern wings of the original building are now connected by a modern new building, that utilizes Saarinen’s architecture and design language. In addition to modern hotel décor, you will see original details, original refurbished furniture, and light fixtures. The tall and wide corridors feature warm colors and trendy details. The wide beds are the central point of the room. The rooms in the original building offer nostalgia with mullioned windows and thick walls. The large spaces of the original building are balanced by the modern rooms of the new-build. Some rooms offer great views of Kaisaniemi Park with wall-to-wall windows.
For dining, Brasserie Grand offers classic flavors that are inspired by French and European cuisine. There are 400 seats inside the restaurant and bar.
