Glenarm Castle is known for its castle and estate, walled garden, glamping pods, tea room, tulip festival and the Dalriada Festival. The castle is also one of few country estates on the island of Ireland that remain privately owned but open to the public.
Glenarm Castle new additions include a heritage centre, museum, woodland walk, e-bike hire, a castle shop and Ireland’s first mini land rover experience. It is expected that in accordance with government guidelines and subject to the lifting of restrictions, the castle’s walled garden along with the new experiences will open starting April 28, 2021.
A milk parlour featuring ice cream has been added. The Milk Parlour is a gelato ice cream factory making Italian style gelato from Northern Ireland’s only remaining Shorthorn Herd milk. The milk is sustainably sourced from the Barr Family at Tannybrake Farm. Their pedigree dairy Shorthorn herd is the only known dairy Shorthorn herd in Northern Ireland.
Three new holiday pods with sea views are to be added to the existing suite of Ocean View pods. The pods are located just a 2 minute walk away from the Glenarm Castle Estate.
Opening in summer 2021, kids can ride on the brand new Mini Land Rover in a driving course that is specifically designed for the mini vehicle. Also in 2022, visitors can enjoy afternoon at the castle. More details will be announced in later date.
Visitors can enjoy beautiful scenery and enchanted walks in the historic walled garden, excellent locally sourced food in the charming tea room, a little bit of retail therapy in the Byre Shop and a browse of the Shambles Workshop featuring bespoke retro up-cycled items, photography, jewelry, and other crafts. A new immersive visitor experience with audio guides will enhance tours and a progressive web app for Glenarm Castle is currently in development.
